AI Observability — see everything your models do

Token cost, latency, and quality dashboards for every model call in your stack.

Get a scoping call

Without observability, AI products ship blind. You can't improve what you can't measure — but most teams track LLM calls with printf logs and spreadsheet cost estimates. AI Observability delivers a purpose-built telemetry layer: every prompt, every response, every tool call traced with cost and quality metrics queryable in real time.

What's included

Trace collection
OpenTelemetry instrumentation for every LLM call, tool invocation, and retrieval step — provider-agnostic and zero-code for most frameworks.
Cost dashboards
Real-time token spend by model, feature, customer, and team. Budget alerts and showback reports for finance.
Latency analysis
P50/P95/P99 breakdowns by provider, model, and prompt template. Identify which features drive tail latency.
Quality scoring
Automated quality metrics on sampled responses: faithfulness, relevance, toxicity, and format compliance.
Anomaly detection
Alerts for unexpected cost spikes, latency regressions, or quality drops — before users notice.

How we work

Week 1
Instrumentation
Add OpenTelemetry SDK to your codebase, configure sampling rates, and route traces to the collection backend.
Week 2–3
Dashboards & alerts
Grafana dashboards for cost, latency, and quality. Alert thresholds configured and tested.
Week 4
Quality scoring & handover
Eval sampling pipeline, quality metric definitions, and runbook for your team to add new metrics going forward.

Best practices for AI Observability

  • Instrument at the SDK wrapper level, not the HTTP level

Framework-level instrumentation captures tool calls, streaming chunks, and retry counts that raw HTTP tracing misses entirely.

  • Define your quality rubric before collecting data

Retrofitting evaluation criteria onto stored traces is far harder than collecting structured quality scores from the start.

  • Sample intelligently

100% tracing in staging. Sampled in production, with full traces automatically retained on any error, cost anomaly, or quality regression.

  • Alert on quality regressions, not just latency and cost

Silent quality degradation is the failure mode teams most often discover from user complaints rather than dashboards.

“Good infrastructure should be boring. The goal is to build it once, document it well, and never think about it in a crisis.”

FAQ

Does this require changes to our application code?
Minimal. We provide an SDK wrapper that intercepts your existing LLM calls. Most integrations require 5–10 lines of code.
Which observability backends do you support?
Grafana + Prometheus is our default open-source stack. We also support Datadog, New Relic, and Honeycomb if you already run those.
Can we use this with self-hosted models?
Yes. vLLM, Ollama, and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint are instrumented identically to managed providers.
