Architecture Review — senior staff audit

A staff-level audit of your AI architecture, data pipeline, and production infrastructure.

Get a scoping call

Most teams know something is wrong with their architecture before they ask us. Maybe it's getting expensive, or fragile, or hard to extend. The Architecture Review is a structured 1–2 week engagement where a senior principal engineer maps your system, identifies the critical risks, and writes a prioritized remediation plan you can act on immediately.

What's included

System inventory
Map every service, data store, model call, and integration in your stack — including the undocumented ones.
Risk identification
Single points of failure, cost runaway risks, data privacy exposures, and vendor lock-in dependencies — all documented.
Performance analysis
Latency bottlenecks, resource inefficiencies, and scaling ceilings identified with load modeling.
Remediation roadmap
Prioritized list of architectural changes with effort estimates, risk mitigations, and a suggested sequencing.

How we work

Day 1–3
Discovery
Codebase review, architecture interviews, infrastructure access, and production metrics analysis.
Day 4–7
Analysis
Risk modeling, cost analysis, performance bottleneck identification, and dependency mapping.
Day 8–10
Report & readout
Written report delivered, followed by a live readout with your engineering leadership and a Q&A session.

Best practices for Architecture Review

  • Provide production read access before the engagement starts

The real system always differs from the architecture docs and the team's mental model. Read-only access is the only reliable starting point.

  • Have the people who built it available, not just those maintaining it

Builders know the non-obvious decisions. Maintainers know current state. Both perspectives are required for an accurate risk assessment.

  • Prioritize findings by blast radius, not by recency

Legacy risks that have compounded for years are often more dangerous than newly introduced ones, even if they feel familiar and manageable.

  • Pair the written report with a live readout

Critical findings are regularly misinterpreted when delivered in writing alone. A 90-minute readout prevents the most expensive misunderstandings.

“The best strategy is the one your engineering team can actually execute. We've worked on both sides of that divide — and we close it.”

FAQ

Who conducts the review?
A principal-level engineer with 10+ years of production system experience — not a pre-sales architect or a checklist tool.
Do you need production access?
Read-only access to your infrastructure, codebase, and dashboards. We sign an NDA before any access is granted.
What happens after the report?
We can execute remediation work under an Embedded AI Team engagement, or hand the report to your team to act on independently.
